THREE ‘Power’ Casual Black Work Outfits

There is quite the confusion out there with how to dress for work in a hybrid working life.

I’m often asked how to dress more casual (or less formal) for work yet –

a) Remain professional and powerful, and at the same time stylish!

b) Cost effective

c) Items that can transition from work to weekend for a more elevated weekend style

Here I have curated three simple, less formal black work outfits that still have that power punch.

And Each of these can easily transition to weekend wear by ditching the heels and adding casual flats or adding higher heels for a night time event, and toning down the accessories if you wish, or ramping it up! You can go either way for weekend depending on the occasion.

These outfits are flattering for most body shapes, comfortable, chic and affordable.

When you know how, dressing elegantly every day takes seconds.

The Dress:

Something ultra elegant and effortless with a shirt dress. And especially this Midi length dress that falls to an A- Line shape, with gorgeous wide cuffs. The feature being the flattering, fixed wrap waist detail at front. A real gem when it comes to flattering, comfort and versatility.

Slip a silver necklace with a big black heart around the neck for that touch of glam and symbolic of marching to your own beat- either tuck it under the buttoned up collar to view the heart or unbutton the collar and place the necklace so it sits on your chest with an open collar. Add silver slingbacks, a soft blue bag and you are punching some power.

For the weekend:  open up the collar, roll up the sleeves a little, add sneakers or cute sandals or stick with the silver sling back beauties and add more glam with big earrings.

2. The Silk Suit:

Sexy and super comfortable is this satin belted blazer over fluid wide leg satin trousers. Cool long drop earrings and gold slingback kitten heels for a delicate and elegant feel giving you that laidback yet in control feel.

For the Weekend: Keep as is for a night event or more casual – unbutton the blazer and tie the sash to the back, place a white cami under. Add some sneakers or cute sandals. Accessorise with a long necklace or cute silk scarf, or keep the fabulous earrings.

The layered skirt:

The fluidity of this layered skirt makes this easy and fun to wear. Rather than a blazer, slip a chic belated leather vest that symbolises strength. Add some gold ballet flats and a wide cuff to give it the power edge, and the final touch is some delicate pearl earrings.

For the Weekend:  Wear a white t-shirt under the vest, add sneakers or boots.
