I was inspired by a recent feature in the Qantas’ inflight magazine on amazing landscapes in a kaleidoscope of colours and have translated four into style equivalents for the body. Each piece was carefully selected to complement the landscape – its shapes, patterns, colours. This has been one of my most creatively inspiring posts. I had so much fun. And my travel bucket list keeps growing!
Kakslauttanen, Finland: Dramatic Nightfall
Nature’s most spectacular light show, the Aurora Borealis is stunningly mysterious. On a clear night, the splendour of lights is considered one of the most beautiful scenes on the planet.
Fluid sculptural lines of this dramatic floor-sweeping asymmetrical blouse reflect the ethereal waves of the northern lights. The light illuminates the sky with green sparkling vibrancy. Imagine sashaying into a gala event in sequins trousers shimmering through the split of a floor-length blouse.

Tiwi Islands, Northern Territory: Clashing PrintsThe towering eucalyptus trees perched high on the edge of the cliffs look down dramatic cliff faces to what seems like a waterfall of crimson red rock and white sand cascading into a turquoise sea. One can see why this beach is named Paddle Pop Rainbow Beach. Located on the remote Melville Island part of the Tiwi Islands, 80 km north of Darwin, it is inhabited by the traditional Aboriginal owners.
This landscape is all about clashing prints & rich colours. My take of the spectacular colour combinations of crimson, blue and green work in harmony.

Nabowla, Tasmania: Graceful harmony
The colour of these French lavender waves rolling across the hills is so intense it appears artificial. This little area 50 km north of Launceston is one of the world’s most important lavender growing regions. Curvaceous rows of lavender planted to better harness the rainfall and reduce erosion roll gracefully towards the horizon, painting the mountain and sky mauve.Â
The harmonious union of lavender and blue signifies feminine elegance. Float in a soft layered silk dress with statement butterfly sandals and large earrings.

Yellowstone National Park, USA: Rocky Road
Yellowstone National Parks’ largest hot spring has an ice blue centre so hot it’s almost sterile, while the vivid orange rim is temperate and infested with bacteria that give it the appearance of a flickering flame. Extraordinary.
The hot, rugged landscape is a sexy, earthy force to be reckoned with. The embellished, gold-collared t-shirt, flamboyant metallic animal print skirt, large blue earrings and embellished boots reflect the personality of someone who is edgy persona, has endured much and continues to surprise.
