Looking Fresh This Spring

Spring comes and mind erupts with colours, blooming flowers, gin, lighter garments and the sun.

You’ve heard me say it before, Spring is one of the best times to do a complete wardrobe makeover. We’ve had enough of the cold and are ready to inject freshness and fun back into the work wardrobe. The prints this year are amazing.

Of course, you need to be able to come with the ups and downs as some days are cooler, you’ll see that reflected in my choices.

Experiment with your style and push boundaries. More companies are encouraging creative flair, you feel confidence and energised and productive.

This is the Big Spring post, I think you can see I’ve been bitten by the pink bug. Blush.

Trousers:

Wearing white trousers in spring/summer is a refreshing look for work after wearing so many layers and darker colours. Wide leg pants are more appropriate for work and also flattering. When worn with a printed silk blouse such as this Roberto Cavalli floral number found on net-a-porter, or an interesting camisole such as this from Seed, you will look smart and chic. Add a statement necklace (Parosh on Farfetch) or lovely earrings to complete an outfit. Valentino handbag on Farfetch.

Flares can be worn with flair: I’ve said several times before that this 70’s style pant is not just for tall, thin women. When you find the right fit and colour for you, they can do wonders: appearing to elongate the legs, slim you down and have you looking ultra chic. The flares are not just made to wear on the weekends or to a fancy dress 70’s party. These sleek beige (Gucci on net-a-porter) and black (Seed) pair worn with soft, feminine blouses are a stylish work outfit. Printed silk blouse Roberto Cavalli on Net-a-porter. Going a little neutral. There is something sophisticated in wearing wide leg pants. It is rarely seen, especially at work and I would love to see more of it.  These gorgeous Stella McCartney trousers found on Farfetch teamed with a white blazer (Witchery) are a cool combination.  Adding a printed bag breaks up the neutral tones, still keeping the outfit simple and chic.

Skirts:

Add some interest in your wardrobe with printed and asymmetrical skirts. The pencil skirt from Ginger and Smart worn with a white jacket ( Willow) is smart. The plaid asymmetrical skirt by Morrison mixed with an opposing printed blouse also from Morrison and large statement necklace from Tom Binns is a unique, standout look for those wanting to push the boundaries a little.  This shows some creative flair.

A-Line midi skirts are feminine and classy.  Again mix it up the skirts by adding some lace or prints such as these two. Lace skirt from Alannah Hill and the quirky jewellery print skirt from Chic Wish worn with a fitted blazer (Aje) are fun outfits that can also be worn at night or to a lunch event. Add a fabulous statement choker (Tom Binns) or a large gold brooch as seen here.

Who says you can’t wear a maxi to work if originality is encouraged. This maxi skirt from Chic Wish is a standout. Worn with a sleek silk wrap blouse (The Row from Net-a-porter), this outfit demonstrates how stylish and bold you are. It can also be worn to an evening event. Dresses:

Colourful, drape style dresses are a perfect addition to the spring wardrobe. These two are divine. The red sexy dress is from Issa London. The burnt orange from Zimmerman worn with a stunning necklace such as this coral piece from Kenneth Lane would lift anyone’s mood in the office. Again these stylish dresses can be worn to out of work events. Valentino handbag on Farfetch.

Ruffle up your wardrobe with the wow effect. I repeat; add some statement pieces to your wardrobe to make it all a little more interesting, and a dress like this Roksanda ruffle collar piece found on Matches can do just that. Spring is not always about colour, especially if you prefer subtle tones. These two neutral toned dresses, Morrison (left) and Victoria Beckham on Net-a-porter are simple and sophisticated, and when adding a statement accessory such as this Tom Binns necklace, the outfits will pop without being OTT.

A classic pencil style dress with a vibrant print can be fun for work. This stunning Sportmax found on Matches  can easily transition from day to night. Add a multi-strand black necklace to break all the red up and neutral tone shoes, handbag.

Evening: 

This fabulously bright outfit says “I’m fun and confident”.  The orange flare trousers from Zimmerman teamed up with this cape sleeved vibrant blue blouse from Delpozo on Net-a-porter is a perfect party outfit that also shows creative flair.

Classic black for a night out. These two very different styles are feminine, flattering and elegant. The sexy silk dress from Flannel and the lacy dress from Temperley look gorgeous with a touch of fresh green. Botanical print cross bag  from Ted Baker. Jimmy Choo snake skin pumps from Farfetch.

Any my final collage. You will certainly make a statement in this ultra feminine Fuschia silk gown from Willow. Add a magnificent necklace (Vera Wang from Farfetch), printed clutch (Valentino on Farfetch) and shoes (Sophia Webster on Matches) to create a stir at your gala event, black tie dinner, cocktail party.

I hope you have found some inspiration from this post for your spring wardrobe. You may have noticed, vibrant colours, statement jewellery and printed bags featured heavily in the post.

As I’ve mentioned above and many times in other posts, try to push your boundaries and experiment with different styles, prints and colours rather than sticking to what you feel safe in. By doing this, you find your authentic style and this gives you confidence which is always empowering.
