The Pleasures of Autumn Work Style

Hello,

When it comes to collating Autumn styles, so much inspires me: art, nature, literature, old movies.

Fall, Leaves, Fall by Emily Brontë

Fall, leaves, fall; die, flowers, away;
Lengthen night and shorten day;
Every leaf speaks bliss to me
Fluttering from the autumn tree.
I shall smile when wreaths of snow
Blossom where the rose should grow;
I shall sing when night’s decay
Ushers in a drearier day.

One of my few mammoth posts for the year, this delicious collection of rich, warm colours and layers, florals and the occasional frill will transform your Autumn work style into a heady-scented, stylish season.

Trousers:

Red turns heads and this elegant, split-side jumpsuit, offset with deep night-blues, is powerful and alluring.

Blend these golden-toned animal print trousers with an old-gold-brown asymmetrical blouse and for additional edge, a creamy striped vest. An olive bag deepens and warms the look.

Lift this beautiful combination of soft but rich pink silk and tapered blue trousers with silver accents, to capture the Autumnal light.

  • Blue trousers from Valentino on Net-a-Porter
  • Silk blouse from Zimmerman
  • Leaf silver earrings from Marni on Farfetch
  • Men’s ring from Maison Margiela on Matches
  • Silver handbag from Orciani on Farfetch
  • Printed paisley pumps from Zimmerman

Skirts:Combine this asymmetric wine-coloured faux leather skirt with a dusky pink structured wrap blouse. Nouveau cowboy boots give it a real kick.

Team this sheer animal print skirt with a structured wine jacket and large belt. The lipstick print pumps and floral brooch add pizzaz.

  • Layered animal print skirt from Chicwish
  • Wine coloured belted jacket from Bianca Spender
  • Large flower brooch from Philippa Craddock on Matches
  • Lipstick print pumps from Prada on Farfetch
  • Pewter coloured handbag from Jimmy Choo

Layer lilac, on lilac on lilac. It’s oh so pretty and feminine. A large floral bouquet on black bag ensures you’re no shrinking violet.

Dresses:Florals aren’t just for Spring. As the days shorten and temperatures drop, clashing prints keep the floral palette warm and moody.

  • Floral print dress from Zimmerman
  • Crystal drop earrings from Witchery
  • White boots from Stuart Weitzman on Farfetch
  • Checkered handbag from Oroton

Neutral is chic and classy. Add interest by intertwining this extra long animal print scarf through a large gold leaf necklace. If you can pull off this sexy white dress with billowy sleeves you’ll be noticed in all the right ways.

How divine are the fluid lines, waves, dashes of colour in this flattering dress. Red accessories are the paprika in this recipe, finished with elegant black pumps.

And on that note of Autumn art inspirations, two of my favourite Caravaggio paintings.
